What we are looking for

We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled RF planner to support the planning, design, deployment and optimization of TooMuchWifi’s wireless network.

The successful candidate will work closely with field and technical teams to identify coverage gaps, optimise existing infrastructure, plan new deployments, and translate network requirements into practical RF solutions that improve customer experience and network efficiency.

About the role

The Access Planner will play a key role in ensuring the TooMuchWifi network delivers reliable, efficient and high quality connectivity to the communities we serve.

Working closely with our operations teams, you will turn technical requirements and network data into practical RF solutions, from evaluating potential sites and developing coverage plans to troubleshooting performance issues and supporting network expansion ensuring TooMuchWifi’s infrastructure is designed for both current demand and future growth.

What you will be doing

  • Plan and design RF networks for new and existing sites, including coverage and capacity requirements.
  • Conduct RF coverage analysis to identify weak signal areas, coverage gaps, and opportunities for network improvement.
  • Use RF planning and mapping tools to model propagation, evaluate proposed sites, and develop network designs.
  • Analyse network performance and KPIs to identify issues affecting coverage, capacity, throughput, and reliability.
  • Optimize highsites and RF parameters, including highsite positioning, azimuth, tilt, power, and channel/frequency configuration where applicable.
  • Support site selection and surveys, assessing potential locations and validating that sites can meet network requirements.
  • Investigate interference and performance issues and recommend practical engineering solutions.
  • Work with deployment and field teams to ensure planned designs are correctly implemented and commissioned.
  • Support network expansion and upgrades, helping forecast capacity requirements as customer demand grows.
  • Maintain RF planning documentation, site configurations, coverage predictions, reports, and design changes.
  • Collaborate with technical and operations teams to troubleshoot network issues and continuously improve the customer connectivity experience.

Minimum requirements (qualifications, skills and experience, other)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, RF Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in RF planning, wireless network design, optimization, or a similar role.
  • Practical experience with point-to-point (PTP), point-to-multipoint (PTMP), fixed wireless access (FWA), or Wi-Fi networks.
  • Strong understanding of RF propagation, line-of-sight (LOS), Fresnel zones, link budgets, antenna selection, antenna alignment, interference, and spectrum utilization.
  • Experience planning and optimizing wireless access networks, including determining suitable sites, sectors, antenna configurations, and coverage areas.
  • Experience using RF planning, mapping, or GIS tools such as Atoll, Planet, MapInfo, Cambium LINKPlanner, Ubiquiti airLink, or equivalent tools.
  • Ability to analyse coverage, capacity, signal quality, throughput, interference, and link performance and translate findings into practical network improvements.
  • Experience conducting or supporting site surveys, network assessments, installations, and troubleshooting.
  • Comfortable working with network monitoring and performance data and producing clear technical reports and recommendations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating with field, deployment, network operations, and technical teams.
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to network sites and customer locations as required.
  • A practical, hands-on approach and a strong commitment to improving connectivity and customer experience.
