You are a Web Developer looking to join a collaborative and results-driven team of professional marketers. Your technical expertise and problem-solving mindset will be key in supporting our agency’s mission to deliver optimized, high-performing web solutions that enhance our clients’ success.

Responsibilities

Your role will be varied and dynamic, including but not be limited to: 

• Identify user and system requirements for websites and web applications;
• Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs;
• Create and maintain sharable documentation;
• Front-end development using SASS/SCSS, Javascript ES6, and other build tools;
• Back-end development implementing robust Data Modeling practices; consuming REST APIs, GraphQL, and building scalable web applications;
• Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling websites as needed;
• Stay current on emerging technologies and industry best practices, bringing forward ideas for continuous improvement;
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including content strategists, marketing specialists, and designers, to develop and implement effective solutions;
• Proactively scope and present new ideas to improve the web experience and provide strategic recommendations.

To excel in this role, you should have:

• Proven experience in developing websites and web applications
• Proficiency in modern HTML/CSS and JavaScript.
• Proficient with the programming languages: PHP and Javascript, experience with Vue, Angular or React an asset
• A strong understanding of web security, session management, and web development best practices
• Experience with relational databases and best practices for data management
• An object-oriented programming mindset, with the ability to write clean, maintainable code.
• Experience with basic network diagnostics and tools
• Experience with Linux-based server environments; command-line proficiency is an asset, but not a deal-breaker
• In-depth knowledge of Search Engine Optimization and web development best practices
• Problem-solving mindset, with the ability to approach challenges with curiosity and a growth-oriented perspective.
• Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple tasks within reasonable timeframes and budgets.
• Self-starter; Able to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques.
• A degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

This is a full-time position with core hours from 8:30-5:00 PST, M-F, but there is flex within that to accommodate life’s responsibilities. Ideally, you’re based in Victoria, BC so you can collaborate with our team in person but remote candidates in the Pacific time zone may be considered.

Working closely with our Lead Web Developer, you’ll collaborate with a group of dynamic professional marketers who excel at what they do. We do great work, and we’re in demand, so you’ll never be bored. Every day you’ll bring your technical expertise to the table to help develop new projects and maintain/enhance existing builds. Your role is critical to the success of our Agency’s efforts in delivering optimized, high-performing marketing services for our clients. 

You’ll be responsible for a wide portfolio of actions, with a focus on developing websites from concept to completion and implementing new features for existing sites. You’ll be a go-to source for troubleshooting and resolving technical website-related issues with existing client sites when you’re not working on one, of many, new builds or planning for the next one in the pipeline. 

In essence, you will ensure that the websites we design, build, and maintain operate efficiently and deliver exceptional experiences.
