Description

We are looking for an ambitious and proactive Business Development Manager to help drive the next phase of our growth by identifying and securing new customers in our focused markets.


The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, building strong relationships with prospective customers, and delivering profitable growth by securing projects and long-term partnerships in key target markets.

You will work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Operations and Quality teams to ensure customer needs are understood and solutions are delivered that align with our capabilities and strategic objectives.


The Role (What you’ll be doing)

This role encompasses the following responsibilities:


Identify, engage, and develop relationships with potential customers in our focus markets: drones, medical devices, defence & security, and industrial applications.

Research and understand customer applications, challenges, and requirements to position our custom battery solutions effectively.

Qualify leads, develop a robust sales pipeline, and manage opportunities through to successful closure.

Develop and execute strategic plans to enter new applications within existing markets.

Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and customer meetings to raise brand awareness and generate leads.

Work collaboratively with internal teams to develop proposals, quotations, and technical solutions that meet customer needs and deliver value.

Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to inform strategy and maintain a competitive edge.

Achieve and exceed agreed sales targets and contribute to the overall growth objectives of the business.

Logging and updating company CRM tool

Promoting the wider group capability. 


Requirements

The ideal candidate is a proactive and results-driven business developer with a proven ability to identify and secure new opportunities in technical or engineered product markets. They will be commercially astute and comfortable engaging with customers at all levels, combining strong relationship-building and negotiation skills with a consultative, solution-oriented approach. Technically literate, they are able to understand and discuss customer applications and requirements, working collaboratively with internal teams to deliver tailored solutions. Resilient, self-motivated, and highly organised, they thrive in a dynamic environment and are passionate about driving growth in key markets such as drones, medical devices, defence & security, and industrial applications.


Key Skills & Experience

Proven track record of success in business development, technical sales, or account management, ideally within a technical/engineering/manufacturing environment.

Experience selling into one or more of our target markets: drones, medical devices, defence & security, or industrial applications is highly desirable.

Strong technical acumen with the ability to understand and discuss engineering solutions with customers.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills at all levels.

Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to travel as required to meet customers and attend industry events.
