Hours of work: 40 hours p/w (Mon - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm)


Salary: £46,000.00 per annum


Purpose of the role

The Business Continuity Testing and Training Lead is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the organisation’s business continuity testing and training framework. The role ensures the effective design, governance, and continuous improvement of testing programmes and training initiatives to strengthen organisational resilience.


The postholder will lead on the planning, delivery, and evaluation of business continuity exercises, while driving a culture of preparedness through targeted training and awareness. In addition, the role includes line management responsibility for the Testing and Training Officer, ensuring delivery standards are met and capability is developed across the function.

Duties and Responsibilities

Procedures

  • Lead the design and delivery of a structured annual business continuity exercise programme across all areas of the organisation.
  • Oversee the development of realistic, risk-based test scenarios (e.g. tabletop Provide governance and quality assurance of all testing activities conducted by the team.
  • Participate in and facilitate complex or high-impact exercises at a corporate level.
  • Ensure all exercises are aligned with organisational risk profiles, regulatory expectations, and operational priorities.
  • Oversee the analysis of exercise outcomes, ensuring clear documentation of findings, lessons learned, and improvement actions.
  • Track and monitor the completion of post-exercise actions and improvements.
  • Identify trends, recurring gaps, and areas of risk across the organisation.
  • Provide senior-level insight and reporting on organisational resilience and readiness.
  • Lead the development and delivery of the business continuity training strategy.
  • Ensure all business continuity training materials are accurate, engaging, and aligned to organisational needs.
  • Oversee delivery of role-specific training for incident management teams and key business functions.
  • Drive annual awareness campaigns to promote a culture of resilience and preparedness across the business.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and continuously improve learning approaches.
  • Provide line management to the Business Continuity Testing and Training Officers.
  • Set objectives, monitor performance, and support professional development.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance.
  • Ensure workload is effectively managed and priorities are aligned to business needs.
  • Promote a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to ensure testing and training is relevant and impactful.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders to provide assurance on business continuity readiness.
  • Represent the Business Continuity function at internal meetings and forums as required.

  • Contribute to audits, assurance activities, and regulatory requirements where required.
