Managing Quantity Surveyor

Route One Infrastructure are a specialist contractor delivering expert maintenance, repair, and protection services for bridges and highway structures across the UK. Based in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, we work nationwide with major clients including National Highways, Balfour Beatty, Transport Scotland, and a wide range of local authorities

We’re on the lookout for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to head up our commercial team. If you’re great with numbers, people, and contracts – and love making things happen – this could be your next big move.

• Support the Pre-Contract Manager in identifying and securing new work
• Work with estimators to ensure competitive pricing and margin targets
• Respond promptly to client queries during the pre-contract phase
• Manage project cash collection and change control processes (CEs, CEMAR)
• Implement cost-saving strategies and advise on value engineering
• Deliver accurate turnover and margin forecasts with operational teams
• Provide commercial support to ensure projects stay on time and on budget
• Review and negotiate contract terms, ensuring risks are properly managed
• Oversee invoicing, valuations, and efficient cash flow management
• Produce clear financial reports, highlighting risks and opportunities
• Lead and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors to ensure high performance

• A degree (BSc/MSc) in Quantity Surveying or a related field
• Significant experience in civil engineering projects
• Strong working knowledge of construction contracts, particularly NEC
