Location:  Whitstable office and surrounding stores in Kent 


Contract Type: Permanent


Hours of Work: 27.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 5.5 hours per day on an agreed rota. 


Salary: £23,795.20 per annum, increasing to £26,189.00 per annum after probation pro rata.


Purpose of the job

The warehouse operative is responsible for organizing large and heavy items in the Whitstable Warehouse, office space and a portfolio of stores across Kent.

Reporting to the Property Compliance and Logistics Lead, the Warehouse Operative monitors stock ensuring sufficient levels at all times, whilst working from a daily job sheet completing tasks in an efficient and timely manner and in line with the contract.

The Warehouse Operative has a deep understanding of health and safety and always adheres to UK regulations and policies.

As Warehouse Operative you will ensure the safe storage of inventory items, prepare white goods and furnishing for delivery to properties and ensure the removal of rubbish within the warehouse and office spaces.

Duties and Responsibilities

Procedures

  • Lift and move heavy items
  • Liaising with Housing Officers, Logistics and colleagues in the Repairs and Maintenance teams and external sub-contractors to ensure deliveries are done on times
  • Notify the line immediately if you see anything which could be considered dangerous within the warehouse and/or office
  • Complete regular stocktake in linked with your KPOs
  • Maintain, monitor and update stock spread sheets/inventories for all stores across Kent
  • Ensure that you always leave the warehouse and office safe and clean at all times
  • Identifying missing, lost or damaged materials and notifying your line management
  • Keeping an inventory for damage or faults
  • Making up starter packs and ensuring sufficient levels of stock are available for pick up and distribution

  • Work closely with your line manager and team members collaborate with others, attending meetings as required
  • Supporting team members and provide on-the-job training
  • Provide cover for other staff as agreed by your line manager
  • Regular liaison with Housing Officers

  • Keep up to date with all written and verbal communications (I.e.) emails/messages/calls)
  • Ensure all records are maintained and kept up to date according to company policies and procedures
  • Ensure lists of jobs are completed to a high standard
  • Notify the line manager if you are unable to complete any jobs you’re requested to do
  • Have responsibility for all company equipment where applicable

  • Undertake relevant learning according to agreed Personal Development Plan
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

  • To return completed paperwork to the Property Compliance and Logistics Lead as directed and requested
