About us

Invisible Walls is a Community Interest Company (not for profit) working with people in prison, their children and families.

Our mission:

  1. Mitigate Harmful Impacts: Reduce the harmful impacts on children and young people whose parents are in prison
  2. Foster Growth and Potential: Empower children and young people with a parent in prison to thrive and achieve their full potential unhindered by stigma.
  3. Strengthen Family Bonds: Collaborate with families, schools and prisons to improve family relationships during and after a parent's custody.
  4. Improve Visiting Experiences: Ensure prison visiting experiences are positive and engaging for all involved.
  5. Diversity, Equity, Equality and Inclusion: We are committed to ensuring inclusive and equitable access across all our services and employment opportunities.  IWCIC strives to be an organisation that champions diversity within its operating culture and through its social value impact.
  6. Reduce Reoffending: Contribute to lower reoffending rates through constructive family engagement.

Our values:

  • We build relationships based on HONESTY, mutual RESPECT and TRUST;
  • KINDNESS and COMPASSION are at the heart of everything that we do;
  • We BELIEVE everybody can make positive changes.

Volunteering with IWCIC

Invisible Walls Community Interest Company is looking for compassionate, committed volunteers to help support children and families affected by imprisonment - one of the most overlooked and isolated groups in our communities.

As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in creating safe, welcoming spaces, offering emotional support, and helping children feel seen, heard, and valued during incredibly challenging times.

Whether you can give a few hours a week or support specific events and projects, your time could make a lasting difference in a child's life. Join us in building stronger families, breaking cycles of disadvantage, and ensuring that no child remains an invisible victim.

Please note: all volunteers will be subject to background checks, DBS checks and references - in the same way as someone who is fully employed.
