Description

The New Space is newly constructed 100 seat recital space in the Gradel Quadrangles, a building for New College in Mansfield Road.

 

CONTEXT: The New Space is precisely that; it is in the early development stage of a distinctive profile within context of the College’s other venues. New College has a large chapel in which a number of concert series take place and is also used evening concerts on occasion. The College also has a rehearsal building, the Clore Music Studios, which is adjacent to The New Space.

 

PURPOSE: The Concert Administrator will play a key role in continuing to establish The New Space. They will be in charge of the daily running of the venue and working closely with the Music Fellows of the College. The role will be varied, ranging from venue administration responsibilities to providing day-time box office cover and meeting and greeting/chaperoning visitors, suppliers, artists and promoters. The post holder will interact with key internal and external stakeholders, including internal departments for Marketing, Development, Outreach, and Music. External stakeholders will include suppliers, agency staff, prospective clients and visitors. The concert Administrator will be expected to continue to develop ideas for concerts and concert series, taking responsibility for proposing and managing these events.

Key responsibilities & Person specification

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Concert Administrator is in charge of all aspects of the daily running of The New Space, including but not limited to

·       Being responsible for responding for booking enquiries

·       Managing all concerts: in both the new recital venue and the chapel.

·       Maintaining the ‘New Space’ website

·       Keep the terms and conditions for bookings updated

·       Liaise with promoters and maintain relationships with them

·       Actively promote concerts and events using social media

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

 

Critical

The applicant must have the skills and enthusiasm to continue to establish the profile and function of a new venue in an Oxford context.

 

Essential

Good understanding of and enthusiasm for the music and the arts;

Strong interpersonal and communication skills;

A real team player;

Able to work collaboratively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders;

Good written communication skills;

Organised and motivated;

A creative outlook and an aptitude to learn and grow within the role;

Knowledge of and experience with the New College Recital series.

 

Desirable

Good PC skills including the use of Kx.

Experience of working in a music, events or conference venue;

Experience of events planning and coordination;

Graduate level research skills.

 

Benefits

Salary:

Grade 5 pro rata of £29,959 - £35,116  + Oxford weighting allowance £1,500pa.

(FTE for 33.75hr week).



Hours of work: 

20 working hours per week arranged flexibly across 3, 4 or 5 weekdays, with the agreement of the line manager. The ability to work flexible hours including late evenings on occasion essential.

6 weeks plus Bank Holidays (pro rata)
