Environmental Health and Safety Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Actively promote EHS ownership among managers across the site and support continuous improvement through regular training, awareness activities, and collaboration. identify, plan and drive EHS continuous improvements initiatives driving a culture of safety excellence.
· Maintain and enhance the ISO14001 Environmental Management System, ensuring effective implementation and continuous compliance.
· Provide senior management with regular EHS performance reports & KPIs including relevant internal and regulatory metrics.
· Manage, develop and provide EHS training as required to all employees, contractors & visitors.
· Lead sustainability programmes including energy usage, waste management and other impact reduction initiatives.
· Manage customer sustainability assessments, Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and/or other product environmental evaluation tools.
· Maintain robust document control and EHS management systems to support transparency, traceability, and compliance.
· Manage complex EHS issues that arise ensuring solutions meet Harmac’s quality standards and business requirements
· Ensure EHS policies, procedures and company safety statement comply with regulatory requirements.
· Support the EHS accident and incident management process on-site in accordance with HSA and corporate requirements, including investigations, root cause analysis and corrective and preventative action management.
· Lead and manage the risk assessment programme.
· Keep up to date with all relevant legal changes or developments and ensure compliance in a timely manner.
· Represent the company during external audits or inspections and liaise as required.
· Carry out regular audits/inspections to measure EHS compliance with site procedures and legal requirements.
· Conform to the requirements of the quality and environmental management system.
· Additional projects and/or ad hoc duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Level 8 Degree in Environmental Health & Safety is desirable
- Minimum of 5 years’ health and safety experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable, with medical device experience being preferable.
- Proven experience in managing and delivering sustainability and environmental initiatives, particularly those aligned with EHS objectives and compliance frameworks is desirable.
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate closely with colleagues across all departments
- Ability to work on own initiative.
· Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise own daily work routine to meet established schedule.
