THE ROLE

The Front of House roles at the Castle are varied and busy offering training and work across all three departments: Shop, Café, and Reception.


As a Front of House team member, you will have a “home department” where you will do most of your hours, this could be in the Café, Shop or Reception, however in addition to your “home department” you would also work across the other FOH areas to help support the teams demands.


In the Cafe, you will be providing a high level of customer service and good knowledge of our sustainable produce and food products while ensuring our community have great coffee and food available to fuel their climbs!


In the Shop, you will be providing an amazing level of customer service and enthusiasm with your knowledge of climbing equipment, shoes and all other great products we have available for our climbing community.  


We're looking for an enthusiastic team member to join us 20-30hrs a week, with availability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. This is a part time permanent role and will be paid at LLW.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide service of food and beverages, for both staff and customers at the Castle Café during the normal opening hours of the centre 
  • Provide a friendly, enthusiastic and efficient service, acting as information point for all customers and staff
  • Ensure that the cafe is fit for service in respect of both food preparation and appropriate hygiene standards at the commencement and throughout the duration of your shift.  
  • Always ensure that food and drink will be stored, prepared and presented according to the appropriate hygiene standards. 
  • Ensuring that customers are aware of the range of products available in the shop and providing sound advice on the most appropriate product
  • Ensure that stock is replenished at point of sale and stock is appropriately stored and organised
  • Using our POS system for accurate record keeping and security
  • Maintaining a clean, operational shop and staff area; 
  • Working with the Duty Managers and colleagues to ensure a safe and friendly working environment for our customers and staff 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We will offer training for each area, however previous experience in a customer facing role within sports centre, shop, or similar environment is desirable. A good knowledge/experience of climbing is also desirable due to the health and safety questions and knowledge base required around equipment.


You will be a team player, supporting your colleagues and be aligned to the values of The Castle, in sustainability and in creating a friendly and open environment for everyone.


Applicants should also have a high level of computer literacy and a high standard of written and spoken English.


Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays is required.
