Job Type – Full-Time, 2-year contract. 


Location – Must be based in the Republic of Ireland. We currently operate a hybrid homeworking model with flexible working hours. Some travel will be required to our offices in Naas or Dublin.


Working hours – Typically 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday but hours of work are flexible.


Salary - Competitive package.

About the Role


The Communications Specialist is a 2-year position working as part of WEI's Research Programme within the Policy & Research Team. Reporting to the Research Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and disseminating the findings of our research programme and supporting communications activities across a portfolio of national and European-funded projects.


Working with internal teams, project partners and external stakeholders, you will communicate research outputs clearly and help maximise the visibility and impact of WEI's research activities.


This role would suit someone who enjoys working across multiple projects, building relationships and taking ownership of activities from planning through to delivery.


Role Description

Working closely with colleagues across WEI's Policy & Research Team, project partners and external stakeholders, you will:


  • Coordinate communications, dissemination and stakeholder engagement activities across multiple research projects.
  • Develop content for project websites, newsletters, social media, case studies, blogs and other communications materials.
  • Manage WEI Research digital communications channels, including the Research LinkedIn account and monthly Research Newsletter.
  • Coordinate podcasts, videos and other multimedia outputs with project partners and external suppliers.
  • Support the planning and delivery of project workshops, events and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Translate research findings into clear and accessible content for industry, policymakers and wider audiences.
  • Work with the WEI Communications team to align project communications with wider organisational activity.
  • Identify opportunities to increase the reach, visibility and impact of WEI’s research.
  • Maintain appropriate project records and support communications and reporting requirements.
  • Take ownership of assigned activities and deliver them to a high standard and within agreed timelines.

Requirements

Essential:


  • Minimum two years’ experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, project coordination or a related role.
  • Relevant third-level qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly to different audiences.
  • Experience developing content for websites, newsletters, social media or other digital channels.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and contribute effectively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with tools such as Canva, HubSpot or similar platforms.
  • Interest in renewable energy and Ireland’s energy transition.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within Ireland, the UK and Europe.


Desirable Criteria:


  • Experience of working on funded research projects in Ireland and across the EU. 
  • Experience of working in a membership-based organisation. 
  • Project management experience with a proven record of successfully managing aspects of projects through to completion. 
  • Understanding of the Irish political, media and policymaking landscape.

Staff are also required to be available to attend WEI conferences and policy forums (typically 4-5 events annually).
