The job
Full-time Post: 33k - £37k depending on experience
If you are enthusiastic about young people and families, passionate about your faith and have a heart for community, this could be just the role for you.
As a growing and active church, we have a mission to reach out to our community with the love of Christ in making a practical difference. This is especially true for young people and families who we meet in schools, our community and church activities. Too many are facing poverty, anxiety and social exclusion often resulting in low attendance at schools and poor engagement with services who could help. Your role will make a difference.
Building on established relationships with young people and families and working in partnership with schools and agencies to address these issues, you will help us to bring positive change to their wellbeing and lives. You will oversee our young people's work in church too, overseeing a team of both paid staff members and volunteers.
Will you join our team and church, building on work that has already started?
Working with children
We have great relationships with primary and high schools in our area and we are now looking to deepen these connections. Representing Crossroads Church you have access to local schools for activities including (but not limited to) mentoring, RE support, Assemblies & lunch/afterschool clubs.
A key part of the role is to deepen relationships with young people in schools providing support in the transition up to high school. You will oversee our young people's groups on Sundays and organise, train and encourage volunteers and liaise with parents/carers as appropriate.
Working with families in the community
We have a thriving and popular toddler group, and different community activities including café church, foodbank, a warm community space and more where we meet families and young people. The role involves developing long lasting relationships with families in the community, offering support, encouragement, signposting and advocacy liaising with schools and agencies as appropriate.
This is a flexible role building on successful ongoing work and we will support and work with you to shape this work ensuring that it is manageable.
What we offer you
As a Church we take the wellbeing of our workers and volunteers seriously. We offer supervision, a pension, and expenses. The post is fully funded until the start of the 2027-28 academic year and continuing to fund it is a key PCC priority.
If you have relevant experience in working with young people, preferably with a suitable qualification, then come and join our mission to share the love of God with young people and families.
