Environmental Health and Safety Officer
SUMMARY: The Environmental Health & Safety Officer will proactively promote a positive Health and Safety environment for all employees. The Environmental Health and Safety Officer will work across all parts of the organisation providing specialist advice and support on all matters relating to the Environment, Health, Safety and Welfare of site personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive EHS continuous improvements initiatives.
- Manage& Maintain the ISO14001 Environmental Management System
- Provide senior management with regular EHS reports & KPIs covering all relevant EHS metrics and reporting requirements.
- Manage, develop and provide EHS training as required to all employees, contractors & visitors.
- Coordinate environmental management programmes, driving continuous improvement initiatives including but not limited to energy reduction, waste, etc.
- Identify and address site EHS issues and concerns.
- Support and maintain effective document control systems for the EHS department.
- Monitor and maintain all EHS policies and procedures and the company safety statement in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Support the EHS accident and incident management process on-site in accordance with HSA and corporate requirements. Including investigations, root cause analysis and corrective and preventative action management.
- Lead and manage the risk assessment programme.
- Keep up to date with all relevant legal changes or developments and ensure compliance in a timely manner.
- Actively lead and drive EHS ownership with all relevant managers and promote continuous improvement in EHS culture, through regular training and awareness events.
- Represent the company during external audits or inspections and liaise as required.
- Carry out regular audits/inspections to measure EHS compliance with site procedures and legal requirements.
- Conform to the requirements of the quality and environmental management system.
- Additional projects and/or ad hoc duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Level 7/8 in Environmental Health & Safety or similar discipline
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a medical device manufacturing engineering role is desirable.
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate closely with colleagues across all departments
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise own daily work routine to meet established schedule.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication and influencing skills
