Senior DevOps Cloud Engineer

Marionete is seeking the talents of a seasoned professional with experience in Leading and/or participating as Senior Cloud Engineering Team focused on Cloud Platform implementation.

Our project team are currently working on a Payments innovation programme on behalf of a leading tier one banking institution that is revolutionising the Payments landscape

Our client is a leading banking institution that is building and migrating to a new ecosystem in the cloud. the role sits as part of the core data and digital transformation team that is supporting a large infrastructure group working on this programme.

Are you a passionate Lead/Senior Cloud Engineer who has experience of delivering robust technical solutions while leading or participating as a Senior Engineer within innovation projects aligned to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) on behalf of customers within the Financial Service Market?

Do you have deep technical know-how and hands-on experience implementing various practices and tools using emerging patterns of technology?

Are you able to provide strong evidence of deploying and engineering Google Cloud Platform (GCP) solutions?

Are you interested in promoting the best of breed open-source tooling, patterns of technology and to work one of the world’s largest banking brands delivering Cloud Native and Solid Data Foundations?

As Lead/Snr Cloud Engineer you will work with and lead both the Marionete teams and also the teams managed by the end client. You will interact daily with developers, architects, and engineers along with other IT staff to oversee the quality of work and aid the project to reach key milestones, you will combine all your understanding of both Cloud engineering, coding and DevOps to benefit the project.

As Lead/Senior Cloud Engineer, you will have the remit to assist in build-out Cloud engineering capability for this innovative project, lead from the front in terms of delivering robust networking, connectivity for infrastructure and platform Operational services. 

You will work as part of a brilliant team, leading them in the delivery of excellent services and innovative solutions on behalf of Marionete.

Assist in the development of secure and scalable automated solutions and provide hands-on technical engineering capability to support the implementation of brand-new Google Cloud Platform service. Work towards implementing new and innovative patterns for technology, encompassing real-time, event-driven microservices, data mesh and service mesh solutions.

Approach the challenge with a problem-solving attitude and collaborative team spirit to identify technical debt/problems, potential improvements manage expectations and deliver outcomes sought by our leadership team.

Proficiency within:

• DevOps engineering
• Technical solutions architecture design and delivery
• Development and Coding Java
• TDD
• Code review
• Infrastructure as code
• Kubernetes
• GCP (mandatory), AWS or Azure
• Data and Development and Automation 
• Leading teams
• On Prem migrations to Cloud
• Cloud Native principles

Strong experience in:

• Pipelines and CI/CD, GitOps concepts
• UNIX OSs
• Docker and tool containerization (Kafka, Zookeeper, Grafana ...)
• Kubernetes and knowledge in Cloud Native Foundation Landscape
• Kafka

Preferred experience in:

• Experience of Infrastructure for GCP, AWS, or Azure
• Open-source technology such as Kubernetes
• GKE or K8
• Security for these types of platforms
• Experience with Helm
• Jenkins and a shared library architecture for automation
