You are a Web Developer looking to join a collaborative and results-driven team of professional marketers. Your technical expertise and problem-solving mindset will be key in supporting our agency’s mission to deliver optimized, high-performing web solutions that enhance our clients’ success.

Responsibilities

Your role will be varied and dynamic, including but not limited to: 

• Identify user and system requirements for websites and web applications;
• Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs;
• Create and maintain shareable documentation;
• Vue-centered front-end development stack, using SASS/SCSS, Javascript ES6 and other build tools;
• Back-end development with PHP leveraging the SilverStripe framework, implementing robust data modelling practices; consuming REST APIs, GraphQL, and building scalable web applications;
• Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling WordPress websites as needed;
• Collaborate with project leads, and our broader cross-functional team, including content strategists, marketing specialists, and designers, to develop and implement effective solutions;
• Proactively scope and present new ideas to improve the web experience and provide strategic recommendations.

To excel in this role, you should have:

• The openness to adapt and adopt our clients’ development stacks;
• Experience in developing websites and web applications;
• Programming proficiency with frontend and backend languages: PHP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS. Experience with Vue is an asset, but not essential;
• A strong understanding of web security, session management, and web development best practices;
• Experience with relational databases and best practices for data management;
• Experience with basic network diagnostics and tools;
• Experience with Linux-based server environments; command-line proficiency is an asset, but not a deal-breaker;
• A solid understanding of Search Engine Optimization and web development best practices
• Problem-solving mindset, with the ability to approach challenges with curiosity and a growth-oriented perspective.
• Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple tasks within reasonable timeframes and budgets.
• Self-starter; Able to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques.
• A degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

This is a full-time position with core hours from 8:30-5:00 PST, M-F, but there is flex within that to accommodate life’s responsibilities. Ideally, you’re based in Victoria or Vernon, BC so you can collaborate with our team in person.

You'll team up with our Lead Web Developer and a crew of smart, creative, professional marketers who excel at what they do. We stay busy with great clients and exciting projects—so boredom isn’t on the menu. Whether you're building something new or improving what already exists, your technical skills will play a big role in keeping our work sharp, fast, and effective. You’ll be an essential part of making sure everything we deliver not only works, but works brilliantly. 

You’ll take on a variety of responsibilities, with a main focus on building websites, adding new features to existing ones, and helping shape ideas into fully realized projects. When you're not deep into a new build or planning the next one, you'll be the go-to for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues on current client sites.

• Salary is commensurate with experience within the listed range of $60,000 - $70,000 annually
