EQA (External Quality Assurance) Manager

36.5hr full time role on a 12 month fixed term contract covering maternity leave.


Salary £33,075-41,895 PA FTE

Purpose of the Role

To support, monitor and review all external quality assurance systems and processes within centres and as an organisation to ensure compliance with regulatory and awarding organisation requirements, designed to ensure the safe award of Qualifications. 


To support and monitor the effective and efficient implementation of the organisations CASS strategy, maintaining compliance across all centres and the organisation. 

Key activities for this role

External Quality Assurance


Oversee the implementation of all EQA processes and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance across all qualifications offered by AIM

Oversee the completion of High Priority Sampling in the documented timeframes and SLA's.


Oversee the EQA sampling process to ensure compliance with the organisations CASS strategy


Oversee the review all EQA reports to ensure the accuracy of content, format and carry out the  submission to centres within the documented SLA's.


Oversee the EQA booking procedure and ensure it is completed within the documented SLA 


Monitor the Centre assessment standards scrutiny (CASS) process reporting any issues or recommendations for improvement 


Oversee and monitor the completion of all Assessment Monitoring events on Quartz.


Support malpractice and maladministration investigation as and when required 

Line manage all external EQAs and manage all external conflicts of interests for EQAS


Lead on the recruitment of EQAs ensuring the workforce is appropriately qualified and trained . 


Oversee and implement the performance management process for EQAS


Oversee the allocations for all EQAS ensuring appropriate consideration of both human and financial resources.


Manage and oversee the EQA budget for all EQA activity both externally and internally.


Provide annual budget reports to the Head of Access and Compliance to include detailed forecasting and recommendations.


Centre Monitoring and continuous improvement


Provide accurate advice and support related to External Quality Assurance processes at AIM Group to ensure learners/centres /employers are able to deliver and award AIM Group qualifications.


Accurately report incidents of malpractice to the Head of compliance and support investigations as required 


Ensure Quartz events are added and updated where appropriate for centre intelligence? 


Carry out spot checks and complete appropriate reports and actions plans as and when required as per the AIM Spot checking strategy


Provide support across the directorate during periods of annual leave. 


EQA Training and Support


Design, develop and implement an annual training and development plans for centres ,EQAS and internal colleagues to underpin the implementation of the organisations CASS strategy.


Design and develop centre based training materials and handbooks to underpin the implementation of the organisations CASS strategy.


Design and Develop EQA support materials and handbooks to underpin the implementation of the organisations CASS strategy. 


Oversee all standardisation activities and materials for EQAs both internally and externally 


Oversee the EQA induction and training process.


Lead on the Standard operating procedure for Assessment Monitoring


Line Management/ Management


Line manage the EQA Coordinator and EQAs (internal) including target setting, review of tasks, monthly one to ones, annual appraisals. 


Ensure the effective and efficient use of the human, physical and financial resources available to the Compliance Team


Oversee and manage the External Quality Assurance inbox to ensure timely responses to centres as per documented SLA and ensuring the equal distribution of work across the EQA team


Make recommendations to the Head of Access and Compliance regarding external quality assurance and continuous improvement. 


Produce monthly Managers reports and contribute to the Directorate strategic plan. 


General


Support the wider organisation in the preparation for inspections, audit and self-assessment


Undertake professional development as required.


Undertake any other duties as appropriate to the post.


Represent the organisation as required at a range of events and meetings


including but not limited to meetings with senior staff from centres, meetings


and events involving stakeholders, conferences and events including public speaking when required.


Contribute to and support the review of AIM Group by

Identifying emerging trends and suggesting improvements


Essential experience, knowledge and skills  

  • Professional qualification at level 5 or above, and or relevant experience 
  • Understanding of cross sector post 16 education and lifelong learning 
  • Knowledge of awarding body and regulatory structures 
  • Experience of external quality assurance processes and procedures 
  • Experience of writing reports 
  • Knowledge of current education legislation 
  • Experience of networking with key stakeholders 
  • Experience of developing and implementing strategies/plans 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills 
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of organisations and individuals 
  • Ability to initiate and maintain working relationships 
  • High level of motivation and enthusiasm 
  • Experience of managing projects  
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
