About the Role

As a key part of the data modernisation programme, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and optimising the data flows that power the company's new platform. This role will focus on data ingestion, transformation, and modelling within our cloud ecosystem, using Snowflake as the core data warehouse and Kafka for real-time data capture.

 

About You

You’re a data engineer who wants to work with real-time data, and you enjoy solving problems around streaming, transformation, and integration.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and robust ELT/ETL data pipelines in Snowflake;
  • Implement and manage data ingestion from various sources, including real-time streams with Kafka, including KSQL and KStreams pipeline deployments;
  • Develop optimised data models within Snowflake to support analytics and business intelligence needs;
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and reliability across the entire data lifecycle;
  • Collaborate with architects, analysts, and data scientists to understand requirements and deliver effective data solutions.


What You Bring

  •  Experience: Solid experience as a Data Engineer, with a proven track record of building cloud-native data solutions;
  •  Snowflake Depth: Expert knowledge of the Snowflake platform, including data modelling and performance tuning;
  •  Kafka Experience: Demonstrable, hands-on experience ingesting and processing data streams with Kafka, KStreams and KSQL;
  •  Technical Skills: Strong command of SQL and a scripting language (preferably Python). Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow);
  •  Cloud: Experience working with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP);
  •  Industry: Previous experience in the Insurance or Financial Services sector is a significant advantage..


Nice To Have

  • Experience in the Insurance field building data pipeline for Policy Admin Systems like Guidewire;
  • Understanding of data schemas and Confluent's Schema Registry;
  • Exposure to CI/CD practices or working with DevOps teams;
  • General knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
