As the Director of Maintenance Planning and Programs at Smart Lynx Airlines, you will play a critical role in the Technical Department, overseeing the safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance planning for our Airbus and Boeing aircraft fleet. You will directly report to the VP of Technical. The role is designed for full-time relocation or on a commuting basis to Riga, Latvia.

  • Develop and manage comprehensive maintenance plans for our Airbus and Boeing fleets, considering aircraft utilization, maintenance schedules, and regulatory requirements;
  • Create efficient maintenance schedules that minimize aircraft downtime and disruption to flight operations;
  • Implement phased maintenance schedules for different aircraft models, considering the unique requirements of Airbus and Boeing aircraft and engine variants;
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry best practices in aircraft maintenance programs, including MSG3 analysis;
  • Review and update our maintenance programs for Airbus and Boeing aircraft, including scheduled maintenance, inspections, and component replacements, to optimize reliability and safety;
  • Implement equalized and blocked maintenance schedules to distribute maintenance tasks evenly and minimize operational disruptions during busy flying periods;
  • Lead a team of maintenance planners and program engineers, setting team goals, and KPIs, and facilitating training programs;
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team;
  • Collaborate closely with the Finance department to establish and manage the maintenance budget for Aircraft Inputs, optimizing aircraft layover downtime;
  • Prioritize and promote a strong safety culture, adhering to all safety regulations, the CAME, and Smart Lynx procedures for all maintenance planning activities.


  • Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aviation Management, or related field (Master's degree preferred);
  • Previous experience of 10 years in aircraft maintenance and planning, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial position;
  • In-depth knowledge of aircraft maintenance programs, regulations, and industry standards for both Airbus and Boeing aircraft;
  • Familiarity with aviation maintenance software and planning tools;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities;
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and inspire teams;
  • Proven track record of effective budget management.
