Overview

Active Silicon, the imaging business unit of Solid State plc, is a market leader in the design and manufacture of leading-edge computer imaging products. These products are used in many areas of science and industry, including manufacturing, life sciences, medical imaging, robotics and security, with many products targeted to specific customer requirements. The current range of products can be seen on the company’s website. The type of customers we have, are in general, medium to large companies with which we forge strong long-term relationships and are located all over the world.


Active Silicon is part of the Solid State plc group, listed on the AIM stock market. As part of Active Silicon’s expansion there is now the need for a dedicated Product Manager for the FireBird frame grabber product range.

Job Type: Product Management

Job Title: Senior Product Manager

Location: Iver, UK (just outside M25, NW London) with option of hybrid home/office working

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Holiday: 25 days (plus public holidays)

Salary Package: £70k - £90k depending on skills and experience, plus salary-sacrifice pension (5% employer, 3% employee with option of AVC's) and discretionary bonus scheme. Life assurance at 4x basic salary.

Qualifications: Minimum of a good engineering degree in electronics, physics, or similar

Experience: 5 years+ hands-on technical development, plus 5+ years product management experience to include project planning/customer liaison/market research/new product introduction/product documentation

The right candidate is likely to have a good engineering degree, plus perhaps other post-graduate qualifications and an early career track-record of design engineering in hardware, FPGA, software or product design in general. Then further experience of people and product management, but still retaining a strong technical knowledge and ability, in order to nurture, motivate and inspire other team members to facilitate the generation of world-class products that stand out above the competition. One of the most important traits is the desire, drive and enthusiasm to produce the world’s best-in-class products.

Key Responsibilities

·        Have a thorough understanding of the products, the markets and customer requirements.

·        Visit key customers around the world.

·        The management of products from inception, business case analysis, through R&D, to New Product Introduction (NPI).

·        Rapidly analyse and creatively grasp opportunities that arise from customer discussions, market needs and technology trends.

·        The generation of customer-facing sales, marketing and technical documents, such as web content, datasheets, brochures and user manuals, plus the management of other product related documentation such as CAD drawings and compliance documents.
