Role Purpose
The CMC Specialist acts as the technical-commercial bridge between Business Development, Marketing, HoD/ML, and Proposal Owners, ensuring opportunities are qualified, technically supported, strategically positioned, and governed through a consistent proposal process that improves proposal quality, win rate, customer experience, and delivery readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Role Overview:
The CMC specialist's role is to extend our clients engagement across our full medicine accelerator value chain and to continuously bring additional value to our clients in line with their CMC needs.
Commercial CMC Strategy & Sales Journey Support
· Support BD from early sales stages through discovery and proposal.
· Translate client CMC challenges into clear opportunity framing.
· Support strategic account planning, campaigns, seminars, workshops, and value propositions.
· Partner with Marketing to create technical content, case studies, webinars, conference messaging, and sales enablement.
· Identify technical trends, client needs, and service opportunities across LM/VLE.
Proposal Governance & Excellence
· Act as entry point for technical support and proposal requests.
· Review proposal readiness and qualification.
· Prioritize requests High / Medium / Low.
· Ensure HoD/ML and SME engagement for technical strategy.
· Track proposal progress, velocity, risks, and bottlenecks.
· Maintain proposal Rules of Engagement, templates, and quality gates.
· Ensure proposal handover, review, and approval steps are followed.
Technical Strategy Coordination
· Ensure technical strategy is defined by HoD/ML or assigned SMEs.
· Facilitate strategy alignment between BD, HoD/ML, PM/Proposal Owner, and CMC.
· Ensure technical needs, assumptions, timelines, resource plans, deliverables, and risks are captured before authoring.
· Escalate when technical strategy is unclear or unsupported.
CMC Knowledge Transfers
· Train the organisation on CMC aligned services and service delivery.
· Support the creation of CMC technical content and attend conferences etc. to capture and target new client and become known in the industry.
· Monitor active projects and participate in interactions between clients and APC technical teams that ensure client success
· Generation of templates and ways of working for CMC department.
· Oversight, leadership and supervision for Associate and other CMC specialists, as specified by your manager.
Qualifications
· Degree level qualified.
· BSc./BEng in pharmaceutical Technology, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent engineering / scientific degree.
Experience
· 3 years+ previous experience in pharmaceutical industry is required.
· Hands on lab experience in a CMC environment is required.
· Experience with regulatory submissions and audits is preferred.
· Experience with bringing drugs to market or to clinical trial is preferred.
· Experience of working on project costings and schedules is preferable.
· Experience in working to tight deadlines with good attention to detail and task focused behaviour.
Skills & Knowledge
· Strong communication and facilitation skills.

· Manage proposal management systems and proposal pipeline reporting.
· Develop and maintain proposal dashboards and KPIs.
· Maintain proposal templates, AI/Copilot libraries, and knowledge repositories.
· Manage technical content and sales enablement materials.
· Monitor proposal performance, cycle time, win/loss trends, and process compliance.
