Purpose of the Role

 Define and establish the standards for assessment associates and centres for assessments and qualifications.


To contribute to the maintenance, development, monitoring, review and consistent application of the process and procedures for setting and maintaining standards within the AIM Qualification and assessment group portfolio.


To collaborate with subject matter experts to create clear and comprehensive standards that reflect industry requirements and best practices.


To develop and monitor the effective and efficient implementation of standards across all qualifications, maintaining compliance across all centres, associates, and the organisation

Key activities for this role

Qualification and Assessment standards management

Oversee and lead on the Design, development and implementation of an annual training and development plan for centres to underpin the implementation and maintenance of standards across all qualifications.


Oversee and lead on the Design and development of centre based training materials and handbooks to underpin the implementation and maintenance of standards across all qualifications.


Provide accurate advice and support related to the standards of delivering and assessing qualifications at AIM Group to ensure learners/centres /employers are able to deliver and award AIM Group qualifications.


Be the central point of contact for centres on queries relating to application of standards and act as a liaison between associates and Centres in relation to standards queries.


Oversee the development, use and review of internal documents which support policies and procedures to underpin the implementation and maintenance of standards across all qualifications.


Contribute to the Review of all Compliance policies and procedures to ensure they are fit for purpose and enable AIM to meet the General Conditions of recognition related specifically to the standards of delivering and assessing qualifications.


Analysing Analyse external assessment data and overall EQA/Moderator judgements for use in monitoring centre performance.


Associate Training and Performance management

Design and implement an efficient and robust monitoring process for all assessment associates.


Oversee and implement the performance management process for all Associates including Access to HE Moderators


Monitor associate performance and provide recommendations on allocations to the EQA manager and Access Manager


Oversee and lead on the Design, develop and implement an annual training and development plan for Associates and internal EQAs to underpin the implementation and maintenance of standards across all qualifications.


Contribute and support the EQA Manager with Associate support materials and handbooks to underpin the implementation and maintenance of standards across all qualifications.


Oversee and implement all standardisation activities and materials for Associates across all qualifications including Access to HE.


Project lead the design and implementation of all standardisation activities and materials for Associates across all qualifications including Access to HE


External Quality Assurance support


Carry out sampling as per the AIM CASS strategy when required.


Be familiar with qualification requirements and specifications in order to verify learners and centres compliance when claiming and authorising awards.

Produce high quality EQA reports within the documented SLAs when required.


Lead on the review and completion of all second sample referrals from the EQA team to ensure consistent standards are being achieved across all qualifications.



Qualification development and approval


To oversee the validation of assessments to assure assessment integrity from a regulator and compliance perspective.


Design and review the Compliance review of qualification and assessment design.


Attend Qualification development sign off meeting as the Compliance representative.


Attend Qualification review sign off meetings as the Compliance representative.

Attend Award meetings for external assessment as the compliance representative.


Attend Access to HE diplomas development and revalidation panels as the compliance representative.


Contribute to the Qualification development and review process on behalf of Compliance to ensure the qualifications meet the standards expected and sufficient associate resource is in place.


To ensure that any resulting remedial actions/process changes required as a result of the above processes are made in the relevant operational teams and monitored for effectiveness.


Centre Monitoring and continuous improvement


Complete project-based compliance work as directed by the Compliance Director and/or Head of Access and Compliance


Accurately report incidents of malpractice to the Head of compliance and support investigations as required.


Ensure Quartz events are added and updated where appropriate for centre intelligence.


Carry out spot checks and complete appropriate reports and actions plans as and when required as per the AIM Spot checking strategy.


Provide support across the directorate during periods of annual leave.


General


Support the wider Organisation in the preparation for inspections, audit and self-assessment


Undertake professional development as required


Undertake any other duties as appropriate to the post


Represent the organisation as required at a range of events and meetings

including but not limited to meetings with senior staff from centres, meetings and events involving stakeholders, conferences and events including public speaking when required.


Contribute to and support the review of AIM Group by:


The development of new initiatives and enhancements


Identifying emerging trends and suggesting improvements

Suggesting and collaborating with colleagues to drive improvements to the customer journey and processes based on insights


Work as part of a team with a flexible approach to working activities

Have regard to the requirements of the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and any successor Regulations and will, at all times, bear in mind his/her responsibilities under the Regulation.


Attention is specifically drawn to the need for confidentiality in handling personal data and the implications of unauthorised disclosure


Have regard to the provisions of the Computer Misuse Act and any successor Acts and, in particular, take such steps as may be necessary to prevent unauthorised access to computer material (Section 1) and the unauthorised modification of computer material (Section 3).

Essential experience, knowledge and skills  

  • Professional qualification at level 5 or above, and or relevant experience 
  • Understanding of cross sector post 16 education and lifelong learning 
  • Knowledge of awarding body and regulatory structures 
  • Experience of external quality assurance processes and procedures 
  • Experience of writing reports 
  • Knowledge of current education legislation 
  • Experience of networking with key stakeholders 
  • Experience of developing and implementing strategies/plans 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills 
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of organisations and individuals 
  • Ability to initiate and maintain working relationships 
  • High level of motivation and enthusiasm
