We are in search of an experienced Software Engineering Project Manager, well-versed in the intricacies of software development, who exhibits a keen eye for detail and excels in effective collaboration with diverse personalities and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be structured, organised, and capable of managing multiple software engineering projects with precision. Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira is essential, and the candidate should be adept at working with different business units to define and scope requirements.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Software Engineering Project Manager is responsible for the development and execution of key software projects that contribute to revenue growth targets and support the Company’s expansion strategies. This role presents a unique and exciting opportunity to join and grow within a fast-paced Internet Services Provider Company that offers affordable and reliable internet connectivity to underserved communities within South Africa.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The Software Engineering Project Manager reports to the VP of Software Engineering and is responsible for:

  • Developing effective project scopes and execution plans for all software engineering projects.
  • Collaborating with different business units to define and scope project requirements.
  • Utilising Jira or other project management tools to monitor and manage project progress, budgets, resources, scheduling, stakeholders, and project changes.
  • Collaborating with software development teams to optimise project delivery and align with business goals.
  • Identifying, assessing, reporting, and managing project risks.
  • Identifying, implementing, and maintaining a suitable software project management methodology.
  • Implementing initiatives that support optimization and growth of software applications.
  • Consistently achieving (or exceeding) Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets.
  • Adhering to the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring project priority alignment with Software Development sprints.
  • Coordinating new software releases between all business units and continuously driving optimization in release strategy.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant project management qualification (CAPM, PRINCE2, PMP, etc).

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years’ experience in a software engineering project management role.
  • Software development industry experience.
  • Proven experience with Jira or other project management tools.
  • Experience collaborating with different business units to define and scope project requirements.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and a sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Flexible and able to meet the needs of relevant project requirements.
  • Attention to detail and quality.
  • Must be able to deliver before or on required deadlines.
  • Problem solver and proactive with strong decision-making skills.
  • Able to prioritise tasks and manage expectations.
  • Excellent time management.
