Role summary

To deliver creative and effective design solutions for the company and its clients. To see those design projects through from conceptualisation to design and production.


You will be able to work from home flexibly as well as in one of our offices, either in Ware, Hertfordshire, or Northampton.




Responsibilities

  • Working as part of a team with other designers, Project Managers, printers and web developers
  • Print production management of graphics, brochures and general print collateral
  • Liaison with print contractors
  • Workload management and organising / scheduling of work
  • Project management and awareness of deadlines
  • Client liaison - either directly (taking brief and following through to completion) or as part of a project team
  • Meeting clients or Project Managers to discuss the objectives and requirements of the job
  • Interpreting the brief whether from the Project Manager or client and developing a solution to suit their purpose
  • Estimating the time required to complete the work
  • Developing design briefs by gathering information and data through research
  • Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts
  • Using innovation to redefine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time
  • Presenting finalised ideas and concepts to clients, Project Managers or Creative Directors
  • Working with and maintaining up-to-date skills using a wide range of software
  • Producing accurate and high-quality work
  • Contributing ideas and design artwork towards the overall brief
  • Seeing an idea through from initial concept to artwork
  • Keeping abreast of emerging technologies in new media


Skills required

Applicants are expected to have a passion for good design and typography and relevant design experience across both print, large format graphics and digital media. You need to be comfortable using ‘Adobe Creative Suite’ applications including; InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and also have good experience using MS PowerPoint. Any After Effects and/or Premier Pro experience would be an advantage, but relevant experience, along with the right attitude, personality and shared values are more important to us. 

Competencies required

Communication

When being briefed, not being afraid to ask questions so a full understanding of the project is there before starting the design. Proofing and making sure final approval has been granted before proceeding to print.


Planning & Organisation

To ensure scheduling and time management are kept up to date and that deadlines are always met. To make sure briefing sheets are kept in order of coming into the studio, always keeping in mind deadlines.


People Management

To brainstorm with the other designers in the studio to keep our creativity flowing. To liaise with Project Managers throughout projects so that they run smoothly, meeting deadlines.


Team working

Working in teams with regard to working closely with the 3D designers and Project Managers when designing graphics for projects.


Customer & Quality Focused

To always be on top of the client’s brand. Being completely brand confident, giving the client the knowledge that we know their brand and will produce quality, creative graphics for them to showcase


Profitability

To be aware of budgets and the cost of materials and print production if and when outsourced


Accountability

Will deliver high quality graphic design to deadline.


Personal Growth

Takes full responsibility when handling a graphic design project liaising with the Project Manager. Is approachable, with a passionate personality, taking on challenges and always up for new and ambitious pitches and design projects.


Leadership

Leads brainstorming sessions when the sole Graphic Designer on a project, injects thoughtful, exciting ideas/concepts and takes into consideration other peoples work schedules and thoughts.
