Chief Accountant

Full cycle accounting (payroll, fixed assets, taxes, accruals, provisions, impairments, financial statements etc.) combined with involvement in treasury and financial controlling functions.

•  Review, capture and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded in accounting software Sage X3 v12 in accordance with group policy.
• Review monthly accruals, provisions, loan accounts and interest calculations, fixed assets, IFRS16 bookings.
• Perform reconciliations and general ledger account clearings.
• Preparation of monthly/yearly closings.
• Preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Preparation of IFRS Financial Statements (yearly, interim etc.)
• Preparation, review and submission of monthly tax returns (VAT, WHT, Import VAT, etc.), provisional tax and annual corporate income tax returns.
• Responsible for the facilitation of the annual external audit.
• Review, maintenance and implementation of the respective accounting and other policies in compliance with Group accounting policies.
• Design, implement and maintain relevant and appropriate internal financial controls in compliance with Group internal procedures.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements in alignment with local government standards, tax, and other local regulations.
• Perform weekly, monthly and annual cash flow planning.
• Set up monthly and annual budgets in line with Group and company strategies and objectives.
• Generating and implementing processes to improve and automate finance functions.
•  Provide support and leadership to 2-3 team members reporting to you.

• University degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as Chief Accountant.
• Experience in international company having tight monthly closing deadlines.
• Experience in financial institution would be considered as advantage.
• Knowledge and experience in the full-cycle accounting process.
• Experience in preparation of IFRS compliant financial statements.
• Comprehensive local tax knowledge, including WHT, VAT and Import VAT.
• Experience in working with external auditors.
• Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS.
• Proficient computer skills (especially Excel), Sage X3 accounting software would be considered as advantage.
• Fluent reading, writing and communicating in English.
• Accuracy, punctuality and detail orientation.
• Ability to learn and grasp concepts quickly.

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in accounting, finance or any other related field (Professional qualification is an added advantage).
• The applicant should be an affiliated member of Lesotho Institute of Accountants.
