Senior Garment Technologist

We are seeking a forward-thinking and innovative Senior Garment Technologist to join our dynamic team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on pushing boundaries and thinking outside the box. You will be knowledgeable in grade fitting, and confident in accurately amending graded specs based on fitting data, with a passion for fit and sizing. You will be at the forefront of innovation, redefining technical specifications and setting new industry standards. Your expertise will ensure our garments not only meet the highest quality standards but also lead in fit, comfort, and performance for our Snaggler community.

Your direct team members will be in our design studio in East London – Mirror Works Stratford, approximately a 2-minute walk from Pudding Mill Lane DLR station. You will work from there a minimum of 3 days a week and you’ll work directly within the technical department alongside the Design and Development team. We also have an office in Istanbul and warehouses around the world that you will liaise with at times.

You’ll report to the Fit & Quality Manager/ Chief Product Officer.

You must be eligible to work in the UK.

• Likely to be working on products such as; Jersey dresses/tops/bottoms/leggings/knitwear/lingerie swimwear. May have some woven products to work on such as denim/tailoring etc. Please check the Snag website and see our diverse categories.
• You will not be working on any hosiery product.
•  Drive fit sessions with a focus on pushing the boundaries of garment comfort and functionality. Focused on garment fit and fabric/trim functionality.
• Accurately dictate/record fit comments, annotate fit photos for clarity and ensure seamless communication with suppliers. All fit comments are to be processed on the PLM system. Candidate must be confident to use such systems.
•  Measuring and quality-checking products where necessary prior to fittings.
•  Approval of AQL reports with supply base. Carrying out ad hoc quality checks with any stock if complaints arise/when necessary.
•  Working on approval of shipment samples for your product categories, ensuring to maintain agreed fit and quality level against sealed Pre-Production samples.
•  Creating initial specifications for new products. Working alongside PD team to ensure correct fabric and trims are selected for desired specifications.
• Carrying out model measuring at the start of each fit session to ensure your fit comments are in line with sizing expectations.
• Senior-level experience in reading lab test reports and problem-solving issues as they arise. 
• Approving test reports before bulk cutting and care labels.
•  Support in the creation and maintenance of internal processes and documents including manuals, grading and process documents.
•  Liaising with the Product Development team to ensure the technical critical path is running on time.
• Clear communication with the supplier base via email and VC.
• Keeping the critical path up to date with technical milestones.

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of grade fitting and amending specifications based on fitting data.
• Creative problem-solving and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Accurate measuring and fitting skills, including running fit sessions.
• Understanding of garment construction, patterns, fabrics, and trims.
• Ability to fix fit issues and identify problems in patterns.
• Knowledge of fabrications and experience with test reports and care label approvals.
• Familiar with managing critical paths and proficient in Excel/PLM.
• Proactive in fast-paced environments; experienced at Senior Technologist level, especially with plus size and fuller bust.
• Knowledge of international compliance, sustainable fabrics, and product labeling.
• Experience in measuring models and conducting AQL quality checks with international suppliers.

Desirable but not mandatory:

• Experience with lingerie & swimwear products, adaptive wear/mastectomy bras, nursing bras and any other specialist product.
• Experience with accessory products.

The pay range for this role is:

50,000 - 55,000 GBP per year
