About the role
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Numata is an executive leadership role responsible for driving the overall financial strategy, long-term financial sustainability, capital structure, investor relations, and corporate governance of the company. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO partners with the CEO to shape the strategic direction of the company, ensure optimal capital allocation, and steward the organisation through its international growth and expansion phases, including South Africa, the UK, Ireland, and the US.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Partner with CEO to define long-term financial strategy and objectives.
- Lead capital allocation decisions, balancing growth investments with financial prudence.
- Evaluate and advise on M&A opportunities, partnerships, and joint ventures.
- Build and maintain robust financial models to guide strategic decision-making.
- Translate business objectives into long-term financial plans, KPIs, and shareholder value drivers.
Capital Markets and Fundraising
- Oversee capital structure, including debt, equity, and alternative financing options.
- Manage investor relations, communicating the company's financial health, strategy, and performance.
- Lead equity or debt fundraising initiatives as required to support strategic objectives.
- Establish relationships with banks, private equity, venture capital, and other financial partners.
Corporate Governance & Risk Oversight
- Serve as executive sponsor for enterprise risk management.
- Ensure corporate governance practices align with regulatory expectations and global standards.
- Advise the CEO on financial risks, legal exposure, and compliance posture.
- Ensure appropriate insurance and hedging strategies are in place to mitigate risk.
Board & Executive Engagement
- Prepare and present regular financial updates to the CEO.
- Serve as a key member of the executive committee, contributing to cross-functional strategic discussions.
- Support committees, including risk committees, with required financial analysis and reporting.
Enterprise Performance Management
- Define financial KPIs aligned to business objectives.
- Oversee financial scenario planning and sensitivity analysis across regions.
- Drive enterprise-wide cost discipline and productivity programs while enabling growth.
- Partner with business units to evaluate strategic investments, pricing models, and profitability initiatives.
Leadership and People Development
- Provide mentorship and leadership to the Head of Finance and broader finance leadership team.
- Foster a high-performance culture within the finance function.
- Ensure succession planning and leadership development across finance leadership roles.
Technology & Systems Oversight (At Governance Level)
- Guide long-term financial systems architecture and integration strategy.
- Approve major technology investments in finance and reporting systems, ensuring scalability.
Knowledge Requirements
- Deep expertise in corporate finance, capital markets, and investor relations.
- Strong understanding of international financial regulations, compliance, and corporate governance.
- Extensive knowledge of financial risk management frameworks.
- Experience in financial structuring of cross-border entities.
- Broad understanding of ERP systems at a governance and architecture level.

Qualifications / Certifications
- Minimum Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics.
- Preferred: Professional qualifications such as CA(SA), CPA, CFA, or equivalent.
- MBA preferred.
